Unified Robotics
Unified robotics is a STEM- based experience that helps students teach each other what they are capable of. It introduces STEM concepts to students with learning and/or physical disabilities in a way that will open doors for them in the future. Many of these students have had little no hand on experience with STEM. Unified robotics acts as a stepping stone to a bigger stage. These students can learn technical skills, they can build and program robots, they can go to college, and they can contribute to STEM.
Unified Robotics is a program that connects students with disabilities with high school peer mentors. These mentors tend to be high-achieving students who are active with the high school robotics program and have had little exposure to people with different needs. They create meaningful relationships, and their experience helps them redefine success—because success looks different for everyone.
Last year we were able to run this program at our high school as well as the Transitional School in the Dalles. This year we are hoping to expand our program even further and reach even more students.
